1. Operator, who this is for, and acceptance
The website Yardstick (the “Service”) is operated by Nyquiste Corporation, a Virginia corporation. You may register with an email address. Registering, signing in, checking the location box, paying, or continuing to use the Service means you have read, understood, and agreed to this notice. If you do not agree, stop using it. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
Before you register, sign in, or pay, you must also confirm that you are located in the People’s Republic of China or the United States, that you are not an EU or EEA resident, and that you are not obtaining the Service for someone who is. Ticking the box confirms location and that you agree to this notice.
We publish the evaluation standards and the time span used for scores. The Service is for amusement. It is meant to be readable by specialists and by general readers alike. It is not a snare laid for anyone on the board. We do not invite any person or company onto the ranking, and we refuse requests to be added or to walk into it.
Scoring rules are on the Yardstick page; prices are on Pricing. Those pages describe how scores are made and how access is sold. If they conflict with this notice on liability, territory, payment, or access, this notice controls.
2. What the Service is — and is not
The Service assesses how well ingested WeChat official-account articles stand up to verification, and assigns an integer Yardstick score (Y) from 0–100. Rankings, account pages, and per-article evidence are shown only after sign-in. Unpaid accounts do not see those materials. A paid pass unlocks them for that account. The full scoring method is available after sign-in. The intent is to make checkability legible, not to attack, shame, or call for action against any person or account.
Scores and evidence are produced by rules and machine assistance. They can be wrong. They are not a human appraisal, news investigation, or official certification. The Service is not a newsroom, appraisal body, regulator, or court. Scores are not legal, investment, employment, or reputational advice, and not a request that any platform penalize or remove an account.
The Service is not affiliated with Tencent, WeChat, or WeChat Official Accounts, and does not speak for listed accounts.
3. Nature and limits of the scores
Y measures verifiability, not whether a stance is right, whether the prose is good, or political leaning. Opinion, stance, forecasts, value judgments, style, and political leaning are not scored.
We publish the evaluation standards and the time span of the material that goes into a score. The public pages describe those standards in outline; the full method is visible after sign-in. Thresholds for ranking may apply, and the sample may be incomplete.
The “sources and corrections” dimension asks whether the article being scored discloses origin, interests, and corrections. It is not a promise that Yardstick itself runs a newsroom corrections desk. Checks can still miss, lag, err, or disagree. Do not treat a single score as a final verdict, and do not treat the Service as a basis for action against others for which we would be responsible.
Scores may change across issues when the rubric, sample, or corpus is updated. Each published issue stands as released.
4. Factual objections and corrections
If you think a check is wrong as a matter of fact, write to cloudnyquiste@gmail.com. Include the account and article, the specific finding you dispute, and material that can be checked. This process is only for factual errors. Disagreement with the rubric, the weights, or whether an account is listed is outside it.
We will look at named objections that include supporting material. We aim to respond within 10 business days. If we conclude a finding was wrong, we will correct that article’s result, recompute the account’s Y, and publish a note on /corrections.
5. Source text, excerpts, and rights
Rights in official-account articles remain with the authors or other rights-holders. The site is not a reprint of full texts and does not license you to copy, adapt, or commercially reuse those articles. Copies may be stored internally to run the checks; that storage is not a publication of the full text to you or the public.
To show why a score was given, the site may show a title, a link, and limited excerpts of checked sentences plus a note. Excerpts are for that annotation; they are not a substitute for the original. Copyright or excerpt questions may be sent to the address on this page.
The Service name, design, rubric text, compilation, and database belong to Nyquiste Corporation or its licensors. You may not republish rankings, scores, or pages as your own product without written permission.
6. Accounts, payment, and access
You sign in with an email one-time code. We send a code and create a use record for that address. There is no password. Codes expire; repeated failures may be blocked. Use an email you are entitled to use; activity under it is yours. Do not sell the account, or try to bypass sign-in or payment. The sign-in session may expire and you may need to verify again; paid access is stored on that email account and is not cancelled merely because the session expired.
Unpaid accounts do not see rankings, account pages, or per-article evidence. All of these require a paid pass. Checkout is available only to accounts that have agreed to this notice. Access is bound to that email for the days stated at purchase, then the extra access ends.
Within 7 days of purchase, you may ask for a refund in proportion to unused access days, except where a statute requires otherwise. Send the purchase details to cloudnyquiste@gmail.com.
Payment is handled by a third party. Price, currency, and the checkout page as shown at the time control. Processor refusal, delay, or extra fees are not an extra promise by the Service.
7. Information and cookies
To provide sign-in and access, the system processes the email you submit, short-lived code state, language preference, payment-related identifiers, and limited technical records needed to run the Service. Article body text is not supplied as your account data.
Cookies are used for language, the code session, and sign-in — not cross-site advertising. Blocking them may prevent sign-in. Records are kept as needed to run the Service.
Hosting, mail, database, and payment vendors may process information outside your location. Third-party failure or policy change is not a separate warranty.
8. Acceptable use
You may not:
- interfere with, probe, or bypass sign-in, payment, or other safeguards;
- demand that any person or company be added to the ranking, or treat the Service as a place to have yourself scored;
- scrape, bulk-export, or mirror rankings and evidence beyond ordinary browsing;
- rewrite scores or excerpts into defamation, threats, unlawful harassment, or a demand that a platform punish someone;
- present the Service as an official finding of a government, platform, or listed account.
We may suspend or terminate access that breaches this notice, or that we reasonably believe is being used to bypass sign-in or payment. Where access is terminated for breach, unused access days are not refunded.
9. Disclaimers and liability cap
The Service is provided as is and as available. It can be wrong. There is no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uptime.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Nyquiste Corporation and its people and contractors are not liable for loss arising from use of the Service, including wrong scores, ranking changes, excerpt disputes, downtime, undelivered codes, failed payment, and any decision you or anyone else makes after seeing the Service. If some liability cannot legally be excluded, the total cap is the amount you actually paid for unused access days in that dispute; if you paid nothing, the cap is zero.
You will cover claims and reasonable defence costs arising from your breach of this notice, a false statement of location, or your use of scores and excerpts toward others.
10. Contact
For refunds, billing, and factual objections, write to cloudnyquiste@gmail.com. Include a screenshot and a description. The address that sends sign-in codes is only for sending those codes; do not send complaints or objections there.
For copyright and excerpt notices, write to cloudnyquiste@gmail.com.
Service of process on the company may be made through the registered agent on file with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
11. Third parties and changes
Codes are sent through an email vendor. Hosting, domains, and payments are handled by those vendors under their terms. Original-article links point to WeChat or other external sites; we do not warrant their content or availability.
We may update this notice or the Service. After the date on this page changes, continued use means you accept the updated notice. If a term is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Except where the mandatory law of your place of residence cannot be disclaimed, this notice and disputes arising from the Service are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Any dispute arising from the Service must be brought exclusively in the state courts located in Fairfax County, Virginia, or the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.
